"Stress reduction is important for anyone, regardless of gender"
What is Stress?
You may find yourself frequently worrying about
small, inconsequential things. Or you may find yourself feeling jumpy and
hyper, or becoming angry if anyone disturbs you. Maybe you can’t concentrate on
things as well as you used to, or break out in a sweat with your heart racing
for no obvious reason.
Levels of Stress
At one time or another, everyone experiences some stress.
Stress may be a different kind or different levels. The distress has negative
effects but eustress has positive effects on humans. Men have significantly
less blood flow than women during the physical stress of exercise, and could
explain why women tend to have more heart troubles after stressful events.
Managing Stress
We women
can have many roles: spouse, mother, caregiver, friend, and/or worker. With all
we have going on in our lives, it seems almost impossible to find ways to
de-stress.
If you are a woman, you are most likely not getting enough sleep or enough exercise and this leads to stress. And stress leads adverse health effects.

Tips
1. Eat whole grain carbohydrates which
increase serotonin levels naturally. Serotonin enhances mood, and increases
ability to cope with stress.
2. Exercise daily, even if only for 10-20 minutes.
3. Avoid sugar which can cause quick bursts of energy then leave you depleted.

Why less sleeps and exercises for
women? Because, in spite of any changes in our cultures, women still have the
most responsibilities - especially working mothers. And when pinched for time,
women usually forget to sleep and exercise.
